Words fail to express my deep feelings at the passing of J.C. I suppose more than anyone else J.C. had the most profound influence on my life and my career. He was my mentor, my pastor and my dear friend. I cherish the time we shared together in Birmingham Alabama in 1983. J.C., Jean, my wife Lillian and me all serving together at the Sun Valley Church of the Brethren. I was a student pastor; J.C. was my mentor and supervisor. His wonderful spirit, his cute laughter, his wisdom and insight into the human psychy made him the perfect instructor for a young pastor. But more than anything it was his humble spirit of servant-leadership that set him apart from others. He touched so many lives and left the world a better place for having been here. May all who loved him find peace and comfort in the memories of his life.
