Lance R. Steierwald, 77, of Akron, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017, at home.

He was born in Terre Hill to the late Mark John and Elva Irene (Reitz) Steierwald and was the husband of the late Phyllis L. (Heim) Steierwald with whom he shared 50 years of marriage before she passed away in December.

He was a member of Lancaster Evangelical Free Church, Lititz where he taught senior Sunday school for many years.

Lance was a probation officer for Lancaster County. He was a U. S. Navy veteran prior to graduating from Houghton College in 1968.

Lance is survived by a daughter, Lori, wife of Alex Cessna and 2 grandsons, LeRoy and Samuel Freidly.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Barry John Steierwald.

A joint life celebration service for Lance and Phyllis will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:30 AM at the Lancaster Evangelical Free Church, 419 Pierson Rd, Lititz. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
