Don was a good friend of my Dad, Bob Firestone and my family and many at Zion UM church in West York. Don and my Dad played guiter and sang together a lot. Our church would have fun nights, etc. I don't remember what they were called. Often Don and Dad would play and sing for these occasions. I may not have all the particulars correct but my memory is that they performed on a farewell party for one of our pastors. They were dressed in farmer gear and sang "Out Behind the Barn". For those who don't know the song... it begins.... "I got my education out behind the barn".....They were quite a hit. The pastor even spoke about it the next morning in church. I will always remember Don's smile, his sense of humor and his love for his beautiful wife, Janet, and boys, Doug and Brian. I have not seen him in years but know his love spread to his daughter-in-law, Trish and was very proud of his Grandsons, Brook and Brendan. He spread his love to others through his sense of humor and talents in singing and playing guitar. I am happy today knowing he is no longer in pain and is now making God laugh and entertaining him with song and guitar playing! He will be missed but we will see him again someday!
