Obituary for Donald W. Warren

Donald W.  Warren
Donald W. Warren , 79, of Ephrata, formerly of York, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015. He was the loving husband of Janet L. (Mentzer) Warren who he was married to for 56 years.

Donald was born in Greencastle, PA on July 16, 1935 and was the son of the late David S. and Thelma M. (Wilson) Warren.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Ephrata. Don graduated from Greencastle High School in 1953. He was active member of The Boy Scouts of America, earning Eagle Scout status. He worked at Landis Tool Company of Waynesboro PA, Bendix Corp. of York, American Chain and Cable Company, York, and Woodstream Corporation, Lititz, PA and completed his career doing machine design consulting work. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His commitment to his Christian faith was evident through his relationships and through his service to church. Don began teaching Sunday School at the age of 16 and continued through various stages of his life teaching youth and adults.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Brian L. Warren, husband of Trisa (Nip Witmer) Warren of Dover, PA as well as 2 grandsons, Brook Warren and Brendan Warren and his beloved dog, Taffy. He is also survived by 3 brothers D. Lee of Middletown, MD, Wayne of Greencastle, PA, Kirby of Piqua, OH and 3 sisters Lorraine Hess, Janice Bartles, and Carolyn Bingaman all of Greencastle, PA. In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by a son Douglas W. Warren and a brother Gerald Warren.

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 6, from 1 to 2:30 pm, at the First United Methodist Church, 68 N. Church St., Ephrata, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:30, with Rev. Walter S. Carter officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
