Obituary for Rita G. Ritter (Butler)

Rita G.  Ritter (Butler)
Rita G. Ritter, 76, of Ephrata, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016, at her residence.

She was born in Olean, New York and raised in Bradford, Pennsylvania, to the late Francis Joseph and Grace Irene (Rapp) Butler and was the wife of Lester C. Ritter with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Carlisle. Rita worked for D and E communications for 10 years but was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #499. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting and reading. Her family was her pride and joy. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Rita is survived by 5 daughters, Cindy J., wife of Douglas Nolt of Ephrata, Mary Jane, wife of Joseph Devaney of Ephrata, Karen I. Baker, wife of George Beers of Ephrata, Sally J., wife of Donald Landis of Reinholds, Dede M., wife of Troy Zimmerman of Stevens; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a brother, Charles Francis, husband of Lola Butler of Mapleton Depot.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Melvin Butler and a sister, Jean Ann Butler.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016, from 10 to 11AM, at the Stradling Funeral Homes, 201 Church Avenue, Ephrata. Internment will be private at the convenience of the family.
