Obituary for Joseph L. Becker

Joseph L.  Becker
Joseph L. Becker, 78, of Stevens, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 13, 2016, at Denver Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Ella (Cammauf) Kieffer, and was the husband of Lucy (Hiester) Becker, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage on March 5th.

He was a member of Cocalico Sportsmen Assoc., Reamstown Athletic Assoc., and the US Naval Cryptologic Veterans Assoc.

Joseph was in the US Navy from 1954 to 1958. While in the Navy, he trained at Imperial Beach, CA and then served as a cryptologist in Guam, Puerto Rico and Washington, DC.

Joe worked for Western Union and the Reading Railroad, and then for 35 years at Amherst Industries in Landisville before retiring in 2000.

In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by a son, Robert, husband of Damita Becker of Reinholds, a daughter, Cathy, wife of the late Jesus Gonzalez of Lititz; 5 grandchildren, Mason Becker, Hannah Gonzalez, Dana, Teija, and CJ Smith; a sister, Romaine, wife of Ronald Lorah of Melbourne, Florida and Landisville, PA; an uncle, Floyd Cammauf and his wife Veronica 'Peg' Sheaf of Akron; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, from 1 to 2 pm at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver. A memorial service will begin at 2 pm, with Pastor Mark Johnson officiating. A light luncheon will follow at the Reamstown Fire Hall.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
