Obituary for Paul Eby Martin

Paul Eby  Martin
Paul Eby Martin, 91, of Ephrata, passed away peacefully in his sleep and went to be with his Lord and Savior, following a lengthy illness, on Tuesday, August 4, 2015.

He was the son of the late Walter and Martha (Eby) Martin and was the loving husband of Alverta (High) Martin for 64 years.

He was a faithful member of Martindale Mennonite Church, where he served as Sunday school teacher, trustee and usher. Following a 40 year career as a dairy farmer, he worked for Lancaster DHIA as a milk tester for 20 years. He served as a “sea going cowboy” on a ship supplying cattle to a war torn Poland immediately after WWII. Paul was a member of the Buccaneer Hunting Club, Tioga County, where he enjoyed hunting and spending family vacations. In his later years, he blessed many people around the world with hundreds of comfort tops that he cut and sewed.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 children, Dennis, husband of Sharon (Ziegler) Martin, Karen, wife of Glenn Hurst, Clifford, husband of Carol (Nolt) Martin; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 siblings, Mary, wife of Clarence Martin, Earl, husband of Elizabeth (Petersheim) Martin, Wilmer, husband of the late Arlene (Bollinger) Martin, Sara, wife of Abram Zeiset and Walter, husband of Judith (Unruh) Martin. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence and his wife Lydia (Weaver) Martin.

Relatives and friends will be received on Sunday, August 9, from 6 to 8 pm and 1 to 2 PM on Monday August 10, at the Martindale Mennonite Church, 171 Hurst Rd. Ephrata PA. The funeral service will be held Monday, August 10, at 2:00 PM at the Martindale Mennonite Church. Interment will take place following the service in the adjacent cemetery.
