Samuel Robert Fichthorn, 93, of Denver, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015, at Ephrata Manor.

He was born in Adamstown, son of Samuel E. and Cora (Wagner) Fichthorn.

He was a past president of the family-owned and operated F&M Hat Company, where he worked for his entire career.

Samuel was a World War II veteran of the 69th Infantry Division and received a battlefield commission as a lieutenant. He enjoyed farming and horseback riding and was a lifetime member of Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville.

Samuel is survived by sons, Eric H., husband of Debbie (Pannebecker) Fichthorn of Denver, Ross H., husband of Rose (Schiaroli) Fichthorn of Denver, Kurt H., husband of Tracy (Simandl) Fichthorn of Denver, a daughter, Lise Marie, wife of Scott Lausch of Pine Grove; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 64 years, Hazel Hackman Fichthorn, and 2 brothers, Emerson R. Fichthorn and William D. Fichthorn.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family, at the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Adamstown, with the Rev. William Hoch officiating.
