Obituary for Lorraine S. Schwendemann

Lorraine S.  Schwendemann
Lorraine S. Schwendemann, 87, of Newmanstown, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at Pleasant View Retirement Community.

She was born in Hopeland to the late Milton and Edna (Shearer) Ditzler and was the wife of the late Grant Schwendemann.

Lorraine was a lifelong member of the Hopeland United Methodist Church and was a member of the “Snappy Snippers.” She was employed at RCA during WWII, then Ephrata Apparel for 37 years and then Clay Township for 22 years. Lorraine enjoyed sewing, reading and playing practical jokes on people.

She is survived by a son, Neal, husband of Elaine (Mackley) Schwendemann of Newmanstown; 2 grandchildren, Joel, husband of Melissa (Hacker) Schwendemann of South Grafton, MA, Jill, wife of Charles Snyder of East Petersburg; 2 great-grandchildren, Anna and Jack of South Grafton, MA; 4 sisters, Emma Hummer of Lititz, Lena Fasnacht of Ephrata, Phyllis Townsley of Stevens, Brenda Shomp of Cornwall and a brother, Carl Ditzler of Ephrata.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death 3 brothers, Alvin, Ralph and Wilbur Ditzler.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 21, from 10 to 11 am, at the Hopeland United Methodist Church, 295 North Clay Road, Lititz, followed by her funeral service at 11 am with Pastor Russell Eberly officiating. Interment will take place in the Hopeland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lorraine's memory may be made to Pleasant View Retirement Community Benevolent Fund, 544 N. Penryn Rd., Manheim, PA 17545.
