Obituary for Joseph G. Zerphey

Joseph G. "Joe" Zerphey, 72, of Lititz, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2014, at his home.

He was born in Elizabethtown to the late Vincent Ray and Mary (Gise) Zerphey and was the husband of Esther L. (Long) Zerphey, with whom he celebrated 48 years of marriage on October 22nd.

Joe was a Hershey H.S. graduate of 1961. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Viet Nam War, and was a member of the Elizabethtown V.F.W. Post #5667 and the Elizabethtown American Legion Post #329 and a life member of the Elizabethtown V.F.C. Joe was an avid hunter, and a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Penn State Nittany Lions, Nascar Racing and his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Joe retired after 36 years of working in the printing and bindery departments for Donnelley Printing in Lancaster.

In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by 2 brothers, Charles, husband of Marilyn Zerphey of Mount Joy, and John Zerphey of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Vincent Ray Zerphey, Jr., and a sister, Peggy Zerphey Smeltzer.

A viewing will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014, from 10 to 11 am at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am, with Pastor Keith Sweitzer officiating. Interment will follow in the Schaefferstown Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded.
