Obituary for Charles L. Hertzog

Charles “Chuck” “Chuckie” L. Hertzog, 67, of Ephrata, passed away on Sunday, April 6, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy after battling cancer for two years. He was the beloved husband and soul mate of Joyce (Longenecker) Hertzog for almost 36 years.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late C. Lester and Cora (Hellinger) Hertzog. He was a 1965 graduate of Garden Spot High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea during the Vietnam era.

Chuck worked in the mobile home industry for more than 40 years. Most recently retiring after 20 years with Fleetwood Homes where he was an Assistant Material Control Manager. He was a member of the Adamstown VFW and the Log Cabin Hunting Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting, especially hunting deer in North Carolina. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, teaching and supporting them.

He is survived in addition to his wife, by 2 daughters, Stephanie Hrubochak of Denver, and Sheldonna (Theodore) Holloway of Leola; 4 grandchildren, Sierra and Dylan Hrubochak, and Dagan and Skylar Holloway. Also surviving are 2 brothers, John (Jane) Hertzog of FL, Tim Hertzog of Ephrata; and 2 sisters, Theda (Marvin) Bowman of Ephrata and Janice.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Schwankl.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
