Obituary for Desmond Marcus Schantzer

Desmond Marcus  Schantzer
Desmond Marcus Schantzer, 21, of Reinholds, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2011 at his residence.

Born in Coatesville, he was the son of Mark and Deborah (Grevin) Schantzer, with whom he resided.

He was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help RC Church, Ephrata and was an active member of the Denver Volunteer Fire Co. A 2007 graduate of Cocalico High School, Desmond had attended the Willow Street Career and Technology Center during his senior year and was currently a student at Universal Technical Institute in Exton.

He enjoyed fishing, motorcycling, horseback riding and 4-wheeling.

Desmond presently worked as a diesel technician for Cumberland Trucking in Ephrata and previously worked at the Cloister Car Wash in Reading.

In addition to his parents, Desmond is survived by his sister, Danielle E. Schantzer, companion of Josh Mertz of Denver; his nephew, Degen Mertz of Denver; his paternal grandparents, Claire and Bernard Schantzer of Coatesville; his maternal grandmother, Patricia Grevin of Reinholds; and his godparents, Darlene and Terry Sayers of Pittsburgh.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, David Grevin.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2011 from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver followed by funeral services at 2:00 PM Burial will take place in the Swamp Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Desmond's memory may be made to the Denver Volunteer Fire Co., 425 Locust Street, Denver, PA 17517.
