Obituary for Gladys Schoch Eberly

Gladys Schoch  Eberly
Gladys Schoch Eberly,88, of Keystone Villa and formerly of Mt. Airy Road, Stevens, passed suddenly on Thursday morning, May 25.

Mrs. Eberly was retired from Eberly Poultry Incorporated, which she co-founded in 1948 with her late husband Levi. She was an active member of Mellingers Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schoeneck.

Mrs. Eberly was a member of the Schoeneck Lions Club and served as President. Active in the community, she served many years as treasurer of the Civic Association. She was also a member of the Ephrata Farm Women. She served as a Girl Scout leader for Troop #203 in the 1960s. She enjoyed cats, bingo, golf, gardening and traveling.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John George and Anna Marie (O’Hara) Schoch. Surviving are a son, Robert L. married to June Martin, and two daughters, Nancy E., and Janet E., wife of Ed Dewey; three grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Raymond George, a brother John, husband of Lois Schoch, and three sisters, Margaret, Anne, and Mary.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, from 6 to 8 pm at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver. An additional viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 31st from 10 to 11 am, at Mellingers Evangelical Lutheran Church, 80 Gockley Road, Stevens. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am, with Rev. Timothy L. Craven officiating. Interment will take place in the Mellingers Union Cemetery.
