Charles H. Frey, 96, of Akron, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was born in Neffsville to the late Donatus and Nora (Reidenbaugh) Frey and was the husband of Berniece E. (Miley) Frey who died in 2013.

He was a member of Sonlight Bible Church.

Charles was a self-employed painter and wall paper hanger. He enjoyed auctions, antiquing, and volunteering at Heart of Lancaster for many years. He also had a strong faith and a passion for music and singing.

Charles is survived by a son, Charles H. Frey, Jr.; 4 daughters, Audrey, wife of Randy Fitzgerald, Bonnie, wife of Larry Fisher, Berniece Stewart, Cynthia Frey; 3 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Elmer, Robert and Richard and 2 sisters, Mae and Helen.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, from 6 to 8 PM at the Stradling Funeral Home, 30 North Ninth Street, Akron. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017, 11 AM at the funeral home, with Pastor Mike Nolt officiating. Interment will take place in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.
