Obituary for John H. Hoover

John H. Hoover, 95, of Ephrata, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017, at Lincoln Christian Home.

He was born on March 28th 1921 in Earl Twp. to the late Aaron B. and Anna (Huber) Hoover and was the husband of Mary S. (Bicher) Hoover.

He was a member of Springville Mennonite Church.

John was a farmer and a truck driver and he was dearly loved by his whole family.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by 9 children, Esther Mae, wife of Paul Eberly of Loysville, Daniel W., husband of Verna H. (Martin) Hoover of Schaefferstown, Leonard W., husband of Lillian (Anderson) Hoover of Stevens, Mary E., wife of Raymond Martin of Lititz, Emma, wife of Levi Brubaker of Ephrata, Erma, wife of Leland Martin of Ephrata, John J., husband of Dorothy (Martin) Hoover of Blain, Julia, wife of Lamar Hoover of Stevens, Miriam, wife of Jay Showalter of Ephrata; 4 step-children, Marlin R. Weaver of Stevens, Leon P., husband of Leah Fay (Groff) Weaver of Denver, Janice, wife of Phares Zeiest of Narvon, Aaron R., husband of Louise (Martin) Weaver of Denver; 53 grandchildren; 213 great-grandchildren; 47 great-great-grandchildren; 15 step grandchildren; 33 step-great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Vera Hoover of Manheim.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Mabel (Weaver) Hoover; 1 great-grandchild, Lexy Hoover and a step son, Alvin R Weaver; a step-daughter-in-law, Edith M. (Groff) Weaver and a brother, Aaron H. Hoover.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Midway Mennonite Reception Center,
210 E. Lexington Road, Lititz. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, 9 AM at the Lincoln Christian Home, 1307 Apple Street, Ephrata, with further services at 9:30 AM, from Springville Mennonite Church, 580 Springville Road, Ephrata, with Bishops Melvin Martin and Lester B. Martin officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
