Obituary for Alama Fox (Zimmerman)

Alama (Zimmerman) Fox, 78, of 155 Stone Quarry Road, Leola, died peacefully, on Friday, January 20, 2017, at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center.

She was the wife of Weaver L. Fox. They observed their 55th anniversary on November 23, 2016.

Born on January 16, 1939, in Terre Hill, she was the daughter of the late John Harry and Elizabeth (Zimmerman) Zimmerman.

A homemaker, she was a member of Conestoga Old Order Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

In addition to her husband, Alama is survived by 2 daughters, Ruth Z., wife of Eli M. Zimmerman of Rochester, IN, Naomi Z., wife of Ivan S. Newswenger of Morgantown; 6 sons, Aaron Z., husband of Barbara (Nolt) Fox of Shippensburg, John Z., husband of Anna (Zimmerman) Fox of Rochester, IN, David Z., husband of Annetta (Martin) Fox of Stanley, NY, James Z., husband of Anna (Zimmerman) Fox of Rushville, NY, Elvin Z., husband of Almeda (Martin) Fox of Leola, Amos Z. Fox, at home; 51 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are 4 sisters, Ruth Sauder of East Earl, Ellen, wife of Ammon Sauder of Withee, WI, Ida, wife of Harry Martin, Jr. of Martinsburg, Eva, wife of Walter Nolt of Ephrata; 6 brothers, Ammon Z., husband of Mary Zimmerman of Stevens, John H., husband of Esther Zimmerman of Millmont, Lawrence Z., husband of Emma Zimmerman of Martinsburg, Isaac Z., husband of Anna Mary Zimmerman of Terre Hill, Alvin Z., husband of Vera Zimmerman of Martinsburg, Ervin Z., husband of Lucy Zimmerman of Orrstown.

She was preceded in death by 3 daughters, Wilma, Elizabeth and Susan Fox; 2 brothers, Weaver and Earl Zimmerman; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the late residence, 155 Stone Quarry Road, Leola. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at 8:45 AM at the late residence, with further services at 9:30 am from the Conestoga Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference, West Earl Township, with Bishop Ammon Weaver officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
