Obituary for Warren J. Slaymaker

Warren J.  Slaymaker
Warren J. Slaymaker, 97, of Ephrata, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. He was a resident of Lincoln Christian Home in Ephrata, PA.

He was born in Salisbury Township to the late Milton and Sue (Harsh) Slaymaker.

Warren was a member of the Hammer Creek Mennonite Church in Lititz.

He served his country proudly during WWII in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.

Warren worked as a carpenter by trade and retired in the 1980's. He also served as a minister in the United Zion Church. His hobbies included collecting Slaymaker Locks, playing board and card games and spending time with family.

Warren is survived by 2 sons, Daryl Lynn, husband of Jean Slaymaker of Ephrata, and Bradley James Slaymaker of Ephrata; 4 grandchildren, Vince Slaymaker of Ephrata, Shawn, husband of Danae Slaymaker of Blue Ball, Lori, wife of Arthur Kemler of Lititz, and Kelly Slaymaker; 5 great-grandchildren, Skyler, Armoni, Danny, Colton and Lauren. He is also survived by 6 step-children, 20 step-grandchildren and 26 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 1st wife, Florence (Griffith) Slaymaker in 1972, 2nd wife, Rosella (Stoltzfus) Slaymaker in 1983, 3rd wife, Wilma (Lentz) Slaymaker in 1997, a son, Larry Lee Slaymaker; 4 brothers, Aaron, Ralph, Lester, and Irvin Slaymaker; and 2 sisters, Ruth and Marian.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, from 10 to 11 am at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Avenue, Ephrata. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am, with Pastor Leonard Rutt officiating. Interment will take place in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Warren's memory may be made to Hospice and Community Care, P. O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
