Obituary for Jerry Ingham

Jerry Ingham
Jerry Lynn Ingham, of Lancaster, joined The Lord on Tuesday, November 22nd, 2016 at Lancaster General Hospital following a brief illness. The youngest son of the late Charlie and Etta Ingham, he was born in Ephrata on March 5th, 1947, and was preceded in death by his brother Jim and sister Betsey (Shockley). He passed peacefully, surrounded by his friends and his family.
A loving husband, he is survived by his wife and best friend Diane, and he will live forever in the hearts of his family who affectionately knew him as “Bumpa.” He is survived by his son Travis and wife Mindy, and their two children Andrew and Kara, his daughter Kelly and husband Brian Doutt, and their two daughters Lexi and Kiersten, his step-son Bryan Shaffer and wife Justi, and their three children, Lila, Lukas and Bennett, and his step-daughter, Janell Shaffer. He was a United States Army veteran who loved his country and was proud of his service. He improved the lives of everyone who had a chance to know him. Always eager to solve a problem, lend a hand, or fix something, Jerry became the neighborhood handyman. He was truly funny, and loved western movies, cooking, and carpentry. Playing cards and games with his friends and family was always on the docket - but he was a notorious and legendary rule-breaker. He was passionate about fishing, boating, and playing golf with his buddies. Most of all, he was kind and giving, and even in death that spirit continued as he provided a stranger the gift of sight, as an organ donor.
The family will receive friends at Stradling Funeral Home, 30 North 9th Street, Akron, PA 17501 on Saturday, December 3rd from 1:30PM until 3:30PM, with a short service to celebrate his life and memory to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jerry’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, 301 Grant St., Suite 900, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.

Arrangements by Stradling Funeral Homes, Inc., Akron/Ephrata.
