Barbara J. Markley, 62, of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016, at home.

She was born in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late Simmie and Dorothy (Sebourn) Brown and was the wife of Paul R. Markley with whom she shared 23 years of marriage.

Barbara was a homemaker. She had a child like spirit and appreciated the little things in life. She was a kind, caring and loving person who always put others first. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She also loved animals, decorating for the holidays, crafts, flowers, board games, and Facebook.

In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by a son, Matthew A. Stipe, companion of Lori Ann Leitch; 2 daughters, Missy Ferrari and Tammy Helm; 5 grandchildren, Heather, Ryan, Tiffany, Lakin, and Zachary; 2 brothers, Virgil Brown, companion of Chris Bowen, Jerry, husband of Sandy Brown and a sister, JoAnne, wife of Russ Pottle.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Lee Stipe and a brother, Simmie Roland Brown.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016, from 6:30 to 7:00 PM, at the Stradling Funeral Home, 30 North Ninth Street, Akron, followed by funeral services at 7:00 PM with Pastor Dori officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
