Obituary for Betty L. Buchter

Betty L.  Buchter
Betty L. Buchter, 87, of Denver, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.

She was born in West Cocalico Township to the late Victor E. and Ada W. (Lutz) Hehnly and was married for 45 years to the late Earl I. Buchter, who passed away in 1993.

She retired in 1990 from the Akron Restaurant, where she worked in the kitchen. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed word searches, crocheting, and especially spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a life member of Adamstown VFW.

Betty is survived by a son, Jackie L. Buchter of Ephrata, and a daughter, Debra K., wife of Barry L. Martzall of Denver; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren; 3 siblings, Evelyn M., wife of Richard Landis of Ephrata, Pauline F. of Ephrata, and Karl V. Hehnly of Mount Airy.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by companion, Norman Long, who passed away in 2011; 2 sons, James B. Buchter and Larry K. Buchter; and 3 sisters, Anna M. Nixdorf, Mary Hehnly and Pearl Hehnly.

A viewing will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016, from 9:30 to 11:00 am at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am, with Pastor Joseph Veres officiating. Interment will take place in the Pleasant View Cemetery.
