Obituary for Paul Fahnestock Martzall

Paul Fahnestock  Martzall
Paul Fahnestock Martzall, 95, of New Holland, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at Garden Spot Village.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Clayton and Katie (Fahenstock) Martzall and was the husband of the late Violet (Shimp) (Mohler) Martzall, who passed away in 2000 after 45 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his loving companion, Lucille Willwerth who passed in November of 2013.

Paul served in the US Air Force from 1942-46 and had an honorable discharge as a Corporal. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, member of Hope United Methodist church for 47 years, Amvets Post 136, served as a Post Commander and Organizer from 1946-47; Historical Society of Cocalico Valley Member and an American Legion Post 429 member for 69 years. After the service, Paul started his working career as partner/owner of Martzall Brothers Grocery, with Ivan his brother, on East Main Street in Ephrata from 1946-56. He worked in numerous sales and account executive positions in the mid-Atlantic, his last being at S E Nichols Discounters in Ephrata from 1979-82 and then retired in 1983.

Paul is survived by a daughter, Kathy Gwen Perry, wife of Robert of New Holland; sister in law, Helen Martzall of Ephrata; and several nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 10 to 10:30 am, at the Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, followed by his funeral service at 10:30 am with Chaplain Chet Yoder officiating. Interment will take place in the Mohler's Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

If desired, memorial contributions in Paul's memory may be made to the charity of ones choice.
