Wayne R. Steffy, 89, of Ephrata, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015, at Lancashire Hall.
He was born in Berks County to the late Otis and Annie (Phillips) Steffey and was the husband of Arlene (Blimline) Steffy with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.
Wayne was a member of the Ephrata Church of the Nazarene. He worked at Bridgestone Firestone in Pottstown for 30 years before retiring in 1981 and then worked at I.G. Sprecher's for 20 years. Wayne served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Russel, husband of Carol (Fasbenner) Steffy of Preston, MD, Barry, husband of Sharon (Leffler) Steffy of Adamstown; 2 daughters, Sheryl McCamant of Akron, Cynthia, wife of William Dixon, Jr., of Ephrata; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Alma Graves of Reading, Grace Johnston of Carlisle, Ruth Schweitzer of Penwyn and a dear friend, Sommer Graybill of Ephrata.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randy Lee Steffy; 3 brothers, Luther, Robert and Leon Steffey.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 10, at 7 pm, at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be private at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors.
