Elam S. Burkholder, 78, of Ephrata, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015, at Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was born in W. Earl Twp. to the late Jacob H. and Emma (Sensenig) Burkholder and was the husband of Fern W. (Burkholder) Burkholder, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.

Elam was a member of Valley View Mennonite Church , Stevens (Schoeneck). He was a self employed produce farmer.

In addition to his wife, Elam is survived by his ten children, Grace Ann, wife of John A. Lehman of Cambridge Springs, Nelson Lee, husband of Marcela Islas Burkholder of Ephrata, Mervin Roy, husband of Brenda Miller Burkholder of Amherst, VA, Wilmer Jay, husband of Almeta Zimmerman Burkholder of Stevens, Glen Lamar, husband of Judy Auker Burkholder of Stevens, Leon Ray, husband of Bertha Zimmerman Burkholder of Hillsville, VA, Martha Jean, wife of Conrad Martin of Rebersburg, Durrel Lyn, husband of Christine Martin Burkholder of New Holland, Sylvia Faye, wife of Harold Case of Bethel, Gerald Ryan Burkholder at home; 32 grandchildren; and three sisters, Maggie, wife of John Horst of Goodville, Anna S. Burkholder of Ephrata, Mary S. Burkholder of Myerstown.

He was preceded in death by a son in law, Dwayne Snyder; three grandchildren; four brothers, Eli, Titus, Jacob and Ivan; and two sisters, Eva Shirk and Emma Burkholder.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 15, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm, at the Valley View Mennonite Church, 194 Gockley Road, Stevens (Schoeneck). Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 am, at the Church, with Bishops Harold Good and Wilmer Weaver officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
