Obituary for Raymond J. Meyers

Raymond J. Meyers
Raymond Meyers, 95, of Laurel Lake, NJ and Narvon PA, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Masonic Village of Elizabethtown PA.
He was born in Philadelphia to the late Ervin Dallas and Anna Rosella (Sinkler) Meyers and was husband to the late Helen V. (Galaska) Meyers and a second marriage to Helen F. (Fichera) Meyers. Raymond felt blessed to have had two such wonderful women to share his life. He is survived by a son, Raymond J. Meyers Jr. (spouse Sharon); a daughter, Susanne J. Keever (spouse G. Ward); 4 grandsons, Raymond J. Meyers III, William E. Meyers, Jeff B. Meyers, G. Ward Keever IV, a granddaughter, Cynthia Halteman, and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ervin and Robert Meyers.
Ray served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Later Ray worked as a figure carver, model maker and sculptor. He would make/create the original models from which companies would make the molds for their production product. He did a variety of work for Aurora Plastics Company creating monster kits (see Wonderfest.com2012); also models for Fisher-Price, Walt Disney, and later the Franklin Mint. He carved the original models for a porcelain chess set, a series of pewter touring cars and sport cars, and other items.
During retirement living at Laurel Lake, he became known as “Mr. Ray”, which pleased him. Ray and Helen attended several seniors club dances every week. Golf was a long time favorite activity along with photography.
A graveside service will take place on Friday, April 10, at 1 pm, in the Philadelphia Memorial Park, 124 Phoenixville Pike, Frazer, PA. A luncheon will follow at the Sheraton Great Valley Hotel, 707 East Lancaster Avenue, Frazer, PA. Donations welcome to Masonic Village Hospice, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown PA 17022
Arrangements by Stradling Funeral Homes, Inc., Akron/Ephrata.
