Obituary for Reed E. Gehr

Reed E.  Gehr
Reed E. Gehr, 60, of Ephrata, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at his residence.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Arthur and Carolyn (Steinmetz) Gehr and was the husband of Yvonne D. (Ruhl) Gehr with whom he shared 38 years of marriage.

Reed worked as an equipment operator for Burkholder Paving until his retirement in 2010. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, camping, motorcycling, antique cars, visiting his camp along the Juniata River, was an avid Steelers fan and in his early years, bowling. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jeff Strama of Ephrata; a daughter, Tangelena, wife of Shaun McMahon of Royersford; 5 grandchildren, Kelvin Cruz, Simeon Taylor, Lexi and Kaelyn McMahon, Jayce Gehr-McMahon; a brother, Ronald, husband of Vivian Gehr of Stevens and a sister, Rhonda, wife of Nevin Haller of Ephrata.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sons, Zeb Reed Gehr and Reed Ryan Gehr.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Bergstrasse Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9 Hahnstown Rd., Ephrata, followed by a celebration of life service at 8 pm, with Pastor Herbert A. Lohr officiating. Interment will be private in the Bergstrasse Lutheran Cemetery.
