Obituary for Lavern R. Sweigart

Lavern R.  Sweigart
Lavern R. Sweigart, 81, of Denver, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Ephrata Manor surrounded by his family.

He was born in Brickerville to the late Oscar and Mary (Blantz) Sweigart and was the husband of Janice L. (Fritz) Sweigart, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.

He was a member of Vinemont Community Lutheran Church.

Lavern was a brick layer for many years, later working at New Holland Ford and retiring after 30 years of service.

In addition to his wife, Lavern is survived by 4 children, Brian L. Sweigart of Reinholds, Brad L. Sweigart of Reinholds, Bruce A., and his wife Karen A. (Meckley) Sweigart of Denver, Mary and husband Wally Wyniawskyj of Reinholds; 5 grandchildren; a brother, Wilbur Sweigart of Akron.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bret A. Sweigart and a sister Joan Ford.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver, where an additional viewing will be held on Wednesday, at 10 am, followed by funeral services at 11:00 am, with Pastor Abera Hellemo officiating. Interment will take place in the Pleasant View Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Lavern's memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 131 South Queen Street, Lancaster, PA 17603.
