Obituary for Rev. Blair W. Nixdorf

Rev. Blair W.  Nixdorf
Rev. Blair W. Nixdorf, 77, of Denver, went to be with the lord, Thursday, February 26, 2015, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.

He was born in Clearfield County to the late Walter V. Nixdorf and Adriana Ione (Ferguson) and was the husband of Grace I., (Clair) Nixdorf. The couple would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary June 11, 2015.


Blair started his ministry in nursing homes and rescue missions. He later became head of Men's Ministry at Lancaster Rescue Missions, director of the Allentown Rescue Mission, served as chaplain for Lehigh Valley Hospital, Ephrata Hospital and the Allentown Police Department. He also served at various churches throughout the area and served in the US National Guard.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by 4 children, Barbara A., wife of Kenneth Deuel, Susan E. wife of John Eichelberger, Michael Blair, husband of Vicki Nixdorf, Mary Grace Parsons; 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Nixdorf; 3 siblings, Nona Bloom, Kirk Richter and Robert Nixdorf.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7, at 11 am, at the Ephrata Church of the Nazarene, 110 Durlach Rd., Ephrata, with Rev. Kenneth Higginbotham officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
