Obituary for Virginia A. Lapp

Virginia A.  Lapp
Virginia A. Lapp, 87, of Akron, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.

She was born in Ephrata to the late Jacob E. and Alice (Hershberger) Mohler and was the wife of the late Melvin E. Lapp, who passed away in 1993.

Virginia was a member of the Akron Mennonite Church, Akron, and was a charter member of both the Akron and Monterey Mennonite Church congregations. She was also a member of the Akron Lioness Club. Virginia enjoyed R.V. camping with her husband, yard work, gardening, cooking and family dinners.

During her working years, Virginia worked at the former Dutchmaid Outlet Store, Ephrata, the Kitchen Department at the former Sangrey’s Market, Akron, presently Weiser’s Market and had been an AVON representative in the area for over 49 years.

Virginia is survived by children, Dennis E., husband of Connie (Hassell) Lapp of Akron, Charlene A. Snavely of Ephrata, Dean M., husband of Lori (Bookhammer) Lapp of State College; six grandchildren, Jason Frable, Matthew Lapp, Shane Frable, Jesse Lapp, Sarah Lapp and Benjamin Lapp; six great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Peifer of Akron; half brother, Jacob "Jack" Mohler of Downingtown and a half sister, Kathryn Lorenz of Ohio.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Lapp and three brothers, Delmar, Jacob Jr. and Glen.

A viewing will be held on Monday, February 23, from 6 to 8 pm at the Stradling Funeral Home, 30 North Ninth St., Akron. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 24, at 11:30 am at the Akron Mennonite Church, 1311 Diamond St., Akron, with Pastors James S. Amstutz and Richard Weaver officiating. Interment will be private in the Wolf Cemetery, Ephrata.
