Obituary for William Charles Briggs
William Charles Briggs, 79, of Akron, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at the Ephrata Community Hospital.
He was born in Wilkes Barre to Ruth Elizabeth (Williams) Briggs of Wilkes Barre and the late William Briggs. He was the husband of Florence Elizabeth (Ostermayer) Briggs.
William was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church, Ephrata. He retired from the US Navy with more than 20 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, William Briggs of NJ; 2 daughters, Debbie Durrance of TN, Karen Jones of NJ; a step son, Jeffrey Stouch of Rheems; a step daughter, Deborah Lear of Pittsburgh; 2 grandchildren, Kyle and Kirsten; 3 step grandchildren, Amy, Candi and April; 2 brothers, Ron Briggs of Harrisburg, Robin Briggs of NC and a sister Sylvia Thomas of Wilkes Barre.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, David and Irving Briggs.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
