Gertrude E. (Neufeld) Habegger, 89, of Akron, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015, at her residence.

She was born in Eshenhorst, West Prussia Germany to the late Helmut and Trude (Franzen) Neufeld and was the wife of the late Eric Habegger who passed away in 2008..

Gertrude was a member of the Akron Mennonite Church. A homemaker, she was a very dedicated volunteer quilter at the Material Resource Center. She had a special gift of hospitality, was a good listener, visitor and a friend to all.

She is survived by 2 sons, Fred E. Habegger of Akron, Ralph P. Habegger of Reston, VA; a daughter, Ellen, wife of David Ressler of New Holland; a sister, Else Shirk of Churchtown; 2 brothers, Helmut Jr., husband of Lila Neufeld of Lititz and Hans Peter Neufeld of Akron,

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 30, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Akron Mennonite Church, 1311 Diamond St., Akron. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 31, at 11 am, at the church, with Pastors James S. Amstutz and Michelle Dula officiating. Interment will be private in the Akron Mennonite Cemetery.
