Obituary for Russell S. Eberly

Russell S. Eberly, 81, of Ephrata, passed away on Sunday, November 23, at Ephrata Manor.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Jacob and Mabel (Summers) Eberly and was the husband of Salinda Eberly, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

Russ was a member of the Hopeland United Methodist Church, Lititz. He worked as an elevator operator for Agway and was also a working farmer. Russ served his country in the US Marines during the Korean War. He was a big Green Bay Packer fan, loved watching country western movies and listening to Johnny Cash.

In addition to his wife, Russ is survived by 3 sons, Russell W., husband of Jeanne Eberly of Ephrata, Michael Eberly, companion of Barb Dickershied of Quarryville, Jacob, fiance of Kim Ruth of Akron; 3 daughters, Sally Helman of Blue Bell, Kathleen, wife of Peter Connelly of Willmette, IL, Sharon, wife of Marc Gerstein of New York; 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Eberly and an infant sister.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, November 29, at 11 a.m., at the Hopeland United Methodist Church, 295 N. Clay Rd., Lititz, with Pastor Russell W. Eberly officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
