Obituary for Anna Elizabeth Landis (Shreiner)

Anna (Anne) Elizabeth Heller Shreiner Landis, 93 of Lititz died Sunday morning, November 16 at Landis Homes where she resided for the past 19 years.

She was born on August 8, 1921 near New Danville, Pa., the daughter of the late Elmer R. and E. Elizabeth Hersh Heller. She was married to the late Rev. Henry Erb Shreiner on November 28, 1940 who died from an accidental fall on June 10, 1963. On April 9, 1983 she married Rev. Maurice W. Landis who died on August 2, 2000. Surviving are three daughters. Beverly married to J. Lloyd Wert of Gap, Pa., Julie married to Rev. Fred Heller of Lititz, Pa., Nancy Shreiner of Ephrata, Pa., one sister Mary Kathryn married to Arthur D. Wenger of Lititz, Pa., and one sister-in-law, Susan Hess (Paul) of Mount Joy, Pa. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Darisa (Nevin) Heller Brenneman of Lititz, Michael Wert of Phoenix, Az., Daryl Heller (Charlene) of Lititz, Philip Wert (Giovanna) of Philadelphia and Daniel Heller (Jennifer) of Lititz. She was predeceased by a brother H. Elvin Heller and two step-children.

Ann was an active volunteer at the Lancaster General Hospital for forty years and was also dedicated to the mission of Friendship Ministries. She was a lifetime member of Farm Women Society # 1. Known for her high energy and involvement, she had many interests and projects including designing and selling houses from lots on the Shreiner farm. She had a dress shop in the basement of her house for several years. She loved flowers and her specialty was roses. She enjoyed travel and entertaining visitors. She was known as a very gracious and generous person. She loved being with her grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren as long as she was able. Growing up on a farm that boarded horses, she never lost her fondness for and interest in horses.

She was a member of Erb Mennonite Church at 567 West Lexington Rd., Lititz, Pa. and funeral services will be held there on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing starting at 10:00 a.m. preceding the service. There will be a viewing Thursday evening at Landis Homes from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the West Bethany Chapel. Interment will take place in the Erb Mennonite Church Cemetery.
