Obituary for Paul J. Mazakas

Paul J. Mazakas, 67, of Ephrata, passed away with his family by his side, on Sunday, November 2, 2014, after battling a 3 year illness.

He was born in Pottsville to the late Peter and Helen (Marchowski) Mazakas and was the husband of Mary Louise (Laudeman) Mazakas. The couple celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary in February.

Paul was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Ephrata. He was a pipe fitter/welder and worked through Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 520. He was an avid golfer and Philadelphia sports fan, loved playing craps at the casino and enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Randy Mazakas, companion of Julie Brown of Lancaster; a daughter, Jackie, wife of Steve Grater of Elizabethtown; 2 grandsons, Miles and Axel Grater and a sister, Patricia Machamer of Wiconisco.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tanya Mazakas and a brother, Peter Mazakas.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014, from 9 to 10 a.m., at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 320 Church Avenue, Ephrata, with The Rev. Father John McLoughlin, C.SS.R., as Celebrant. Final Commendation and Farewell will follow in the Bergstrasse Lutheran Cemetery.


Memorial contributions in Paul's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society-Lanc. Co. Unit, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
