Obituary for Robert Harry Beck
Robert Harry Beck, 84, of Lancaster, formerly of Manheim St., York, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2014, at his residence.
He was born in Smoketown to the late Harry and C. Mae (Clark) Beck and was the husband of Dorothy Jane (Stutzman) Beck.
Robert was a member of the Bird In Hand United Methodist Church. He served his country in the Marines during the Korean War. During his working years he was the office manager for Harrisburg Electrical Supply. He was active with little league, serving as a coach inYork County. He had volunteered at the York Fair for many years. Robert enjoyed golfing and was an avid baseball player in his youth.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2sons, Robert H., husband of Edwina (Campbell) Beck Jr. of Cincinnati, OH, Phillip Eric Beck at home; a daughter, Sylvia Beck, wife of David Williams of Norfolk, VA; 4 granddaughters, Charlotte Sykes, Emily Williams, Hanna and Morgan Beck.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roy C. Beck and a sister, Ruth Beck Denlinger Buckwalter.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014, at 6 p.m., at the Bird In Hand United Methodist Church, 2620 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bird In Hand, with the Rev. Dr. Benjamin T. Goldberg-Taylor officiating. Family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family with military honors accorded.
Memorial contributions in Robert's memory may be made to the Bird in Hand United Methodist Church, 2620 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bird In Hand, PA 17505.
