Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty" L. Eshleman (Landis)

Elizabeth "Betty" L. Eshleman, 89, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at Lancaster General Hospital.

She was born in Lancaster to the late John and Helen R. (Reinhart) Landis and was the wife of the late J. Warren Eshleman who passed away in June 1999.

Betty was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Lancaster. She was a 1943 graduate of West Lampeter High School. During her working years, Betty was a teacher’s aide for the IU-13, and most recently had been a sales associate at Bon Ton until she retired in 2011.


She is survived by a daughter, Yolanda, wife of Walter Hackman, Jr. of Ephrata; 3 grandchildren, Richard A., husband of Maggie Hackman, Robert, husband of Carol Hackman, Amy, wife of Mark Hewes; 4great-grandchildren, Emma, Grace, Katie Hackman and Joel Hewes; a brother, Richard Landis; a sister, Jean Landis Immel; 2 sisters-in-law, Freda Eshleman and Freda Landis.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Landis.

A viewing will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 500 Pearl St., Lancaster, followed by her funeral service at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor David Kreider officiating. Interment will take place in the Willow Street Mennonite Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Betty’s memory may be made to the Redeemer Lutheran Church (Quilters), 500 Pearl St., Lancaster, PA 17603.
