Obituary for V. Jane Dornes (Furlow)
V. Jane Dornes, 91, of Lititz, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014, at Luther Acres.
She was born in Lititz to the late John and Ada Landis (Fry) Furlow and was the wife of the late Richard C. Dornes.
Jane was a member of the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ephrata and a former member of Bergstrasse Lutheran Church, Ephrata. She and her late husband were the owner/operators of the former Dornes Jewely Store. She enjoyed needlework and counted cross stitch as hobbies. She served on the kitchen committee of the church, was a choir member and also a member of the Lutheran Church Women's Assoc.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Gerry (Ecenrode) Dornes, of Ephrata; a grandson, Andrew D., husband of Dawn (Enck) Dornes of Terre Hill; a sister-in-law, Joan (Jody) Furlow of Lititz and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a son Kenneth E. Dornes; a brother John (Jock) Furlow and a sister Grace (Bess) Rutter.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, September 6, from 1 to 2 p.m., at the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1331 W. Main St., Ephrata, followed by her funeral service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Jeffrey Goodman officiating. Interment will take place in the Bergstrasse Cemetery, Ephrata Township.
