Obituary for Glenn Nelson Hurst

Glenn Nelson Hurst, 69, of Schoeneck, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at his residence.

He was born in Ephrata to Nora (Weaver) Hurst and the late Raymond Hurst.

He was a member of the Weaverland Frame Mennonite Church in East Earl Twp.

Glenn was the owner/operator of Glenn's Excavating for many years.

Glenn is survived by his mother, Nora (Weaver) Hurst of Denver; his loving wife of 48 years, Jerilyn (Weaver) Hurst of Denver; 5 children, Byron G., husband of Joyce D. (Martin) Hurst of Denver, Michelle D., wife of Brian Z. Nolt of Reinholds, Audrey B., wife of Merle M. Good of Newmanstown, Philip S., husband of Glenda B. (Zimmerman) Hurst of Denver, and Jerilyn R., wife of Sheldon I. Martin of Denver; 25 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, R. Richard, husband of Mary (Newswanger) Hurst of Newmanstown, E. Earl, husband of Irene (Martin) Hurst of Newmanstown; and 2 sisters, V. Jane, wife of David Martin of Ephrata, and Janet Faye, wife of LeRoy Sauder of Lebanon.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ardell.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, (TODAY) from 2 to 4 and 6-8 pm at the Martindale Mennonite Reception Center. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, at 10:00 am from the Weaverland Frame Mennonite Church. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
