Obituary for Mary Jane Lash (Landis)

Mary Jane Lash, 88, of Ephrata, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at her residence.

She was born in Clay Township to the late Amos W. and Mabel M. (Heberling) Landis and was the wife of the late Harold S. Lash who passed away in 2002.

She was a member of the Brickerville United Lutheran Church. She had worked at Hopeland Manufacturing and earlier had worked for Miller Hess Shoe Co., Akron and F and M Hat Factory, Adamstown. Mary Jane enjoyed cooking, making chocolate candy, attending yard sales and flea markets, babysitting. She had enjoyed sightseeing with her late husband, especially country and western sights. She especially enjoyed her favorite guys, Randy and Buzzard.

Mary Jane is survived by a son, Harold S. Lash, Jr. of Ephrata; a daughter, Patricia A. Lash of Reading; 8 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Richard, husband of Evelyn (Hehnley) Landis of Ephrata; 2 sisters, Betty Jane, widow of Walter C. Goshert of Wyomissing and Vera, widow of Chester Sweigart of Denver.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a great grandson, Dakota S. Schnettler and numerous siblings.

A viewing will be held on Monday, July 7, from 1 to 2 pm, at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver, followed by her funeral service at 2 pm, with Rev. Dr. Scott K. Davis officiating. Interment will take place in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Brickerville.
