Obituary for Judith K. Buchter (Kilby)

Judith K. Buchter, 75, of Ephrata, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Ephrata Manor.

She was born in West Chester to the late Ivan and Kathryn (Ulmer) Kilby and was the wife of the late Glenn L. Buchter who passed away in 2012.

Judith was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ephrata, where she started the Parkinson Pals Support Group and she was a former member of the Brunnerville United Methodist Church where she served on many committees. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren, crocheting, embroidering, collecting antiques, books and camping with the See Son Rise and Set Camping Club. Judith had worked as an administrative assistant at Educator's Life Insurance Company, Ephrata and Cocalico School Districts and Rothsville Medical Center. She was a 1957 graduate of Warwick High School.

She is survived by 3 children, Pam Harding of Ephrata, Mike Himes of Lititz, Carolyn, wife of Douglas Keith of Ephrata; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; a sister, Barbara Ann, wife of Bill Zimmerman of Manheim and a brother, Merle Kilby of Lititz. Judith was also a foster parent to many children over the years.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Richard Clair Kilby.
A viewing will be held on Monday, July 7, from 6 to 8 pm, at the First United Methodist Church, 68 N. Church Street, Ephrata. An additional viewing will take place on Tuesday, from 10 to 11 am, at the church, followed by her funeral service at 11 am, with Pastor Walter Carter officiating. Interment will take place in the Brunnerville United Methodist Cemetery.
