Obituary for Irvin Firestone

Irvin Firestone Jr., 82, of Ephrata, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at the Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was born in Cocalico to the late Irvin and Beda (Brubaker) Firestone and was the companion of Ruth E. Heck for almost 50 years.

Irvin retired in 1991, from Stief Concrete Work Inc., of New Holland as a concrete mason. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. His hobbies included gardening, mushroom hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his companion, he is survived by his step sons whom he helped raise, Rick Heck of Conestoga, Dale Heck of Hopeland, Ronald Heck of Middletown; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Josephine, wife of Walter Wenrich of Ephrata and Pearl I. Firestone of Ephrata.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step daughter, Debra Fort; 5 brothers, Haskell, William, Harry, Earl and Albert Firestone.

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 28, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver, followed by his funeral service at 7:30 p.m., with Pastor Ronald Good officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

If desired, memorial contributions in Irvin's memory may be made to the Lebanon VA Medical Center, 1700 South Lincoln Avenue, Lebanon, PA 17042.
