Thomas James Havens, 72, of Ephrata Township, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019, at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.

He was born in Vestal, NY to the late James Harvey and Mildred B. Havens and was the beloved husband of Patricia (Cable) Havens, with whom he shared 43 years of marriage.

Tom also held a Master's degree in Economics from SUNY Binghamton, his MBA from Syracuse University, his degree in accounting from West Chester University, and his advanced business certificate from Drexel University. He lettered in football and wrestling at Cornell.

Tom was a very active man, constantly staying in good physical shape. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed reading and furthering his guitar talent. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

Tom retired from Drexel University in June of this year and was looking forward to his next journey.

In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by a son, James Paul, husband of Caroline (Epler) Havens of Lititz, a daughter, Jennifer Lauren, wife of Nathan Andrew Sayre of Ephrata; 4 grandsons, Ellis Richard and Teal James Havens, Nolan Andrew and Warren Thomas Sayre; two sisters-in-law, Nancy C., wife of Frederick Riedel of Columbia, MD and Carol, wife of Richard Johnson of Rome, NY. He will be greatly missed by his extended family and friends.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019, from 2 to 4 pm at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver. Funeral services will follow at 4 pm, with Fred W. Riedel officiating.

To toms family, I just learned of Toms passing and wanted to say that I am very sad to learn of this news. Tom and I worked together for 5 years back in the early 2000s. We had become friends, and chatted often. I really enjoyed his friendship, and he would talk about his family, and his life out in Ephrata. He was a wonderful person. I was so glad to connect on Facebook to stay in touch. My heart goes out to you all. And please know his memory is alive with me too.

This is unbelievable. I am so glad I got to see him twice in the last few years. Tom was a great boss and easy to get along
with. Patty, we are so sorry. We wished we lived nearby so Ken and I could have come to the funeral. Our condolences to all
the family. I'm sure you have many beautiful memories. He was so proud of his grandchildren.

Our deepest sympathy,

Ken and Fran Ashe

I worked with Tom at Drexel and also played golf with him. He was such a nice, genuine person and a dedicated worker. I was looking forward to playing golf with him this next season - I am going to miss his stories and good nature. I am so sorry for his loss - sending my love and prayers to his family and friends.

I am so sad to hear of Tom's passing. I worked with Tom for years at VWR. Very recently I bumped into Tom in Hershey at a show and we had a great chat before and after the show catching up. Tom was a wonderful person, kind, considerate, thoughtful, just an overall kind soul. We played in a golf league together years ago and had some fantastic times and laughs on the course. My condolences to his family. He will be greatly missed.
