Obituary for Stella J. Gerczak

Stella Janet Gerczak, 97, of Denver, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Maple Farm Nursing Home.

She was born August 1, 1925, in North Wales, PA, to the late Peter and Rosalie (Jankiewicz) Gerczak.

Stella was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

She graduated from Simon Gratz High School in Philadelphia. Stella worked as a bookkeeper and then as a counter waitress at Weavers in Denver. She loved Philadelphia sports teams, reading, and doing puzzles. One of her greatest honors was to witness the commissioning of the Joseph Gerczak US Coast Guard Cutter in Hawaii. The cutter was named for her brother, Joseph, who bravely fought in WWII.

Stella is survived by her nephew, Edward Fanning and his wife Linda, who were her caregivers. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, and great-great-nephews and nieces who will deeply miss her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Louis, Walter (Ann), Joseph, and her sister, Helen (Edward) Fanning.

A private graveside service will tale place in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia.
