Robert Stoecker Conway, 90, of Melbourne, Florida passed away and joined the Church Triumphant on Saturday,11 December 2021.
Bob was born on 23 October 1931 in Parkesburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Harry Baum Conway, Sr. and his wife, Caroline Sofia (Stoecker). He was the last of ten children born to them. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Roberta Rose Conway; his daughter, Deborah Lynn Conway; his son Michael David Conway and wife Carolyn; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and, multiple generations of nieces and nephews.
Directly after high school graduation in 1949, Bob joined the United States Air Force. He enjoyed 27 years of service to his country in the field of electronic security, traveling all over the world with his family. After retirement, he enjoyed a second career as an Aerospace Engineer for Ford Aerospace/Loral Corporation. In 1993, he retired a second time.
Bob and Bobbi returned to his roots in Pennsylvania, moving to Ephrata, where he rededicated himself to the Masonic Lodge. Over the next 25 years he served as Master of Ephrata Lodge #665, was appointed District Deputy Grand Master for District #1 by the Right Worshipful Master of the Grand Lodge of the State of Pennsylvania, and was elected a 33rd Degree Master Mason. He was also a member of the Scottish Right Valley of Reading and the Raja Shrine.
Bob was a dedicated Christian, teaching Sunday School, serving as a Deacon, and singing in the choir wherever he lived. He considered it an honor to serve his country. Bob was also a family man, coaching various sports and serving as a scout leader. He was an avid reader and student of history and political science; especially concerning the American Civil War. He enjoyed golf, bowling, camping, hunting, fishing, and road trips. Not one to do a lot of planning, road trips with Bob were always an adventure. We saw lots of things that people miss because they were off-the-beaten-path.
On 26 March 2022, a visitation will be held from 4 to 5 pm, followed by a Masonic Memorial Service from 5 to 5:30 pm, at Stradling Funeral Home. 201 Church Ave., Ephrata, PA. He will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery alongside two of his brothers at a later date.
