Obituary for Raymond Leslie Ward
Raymond Leslie Ward, 81, of Denver, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2019, at home.
He was born in Mechanicsburg to the late Paul Albert and Dorothy Pearl (Shultz) Ward and was the husband of Jo Nannette (Lynch) Ward with whom he shared and celebrated 57 years of marriage on August 29.
Raymond was an educator for North East High School and later worked for Dupont and Bell Atlantic. He then finished his career at Ephrata Alternative Ed Center, retiring in 2010. He was a graduate of Lock Haven University, class of 1963.
Raymond loved his family and traveling. Ray’s other interests were studying history and reading. Ray was dedicated to working out and socializing with many friends at the gym 7 days a week. Ray was the President of the first graduating class (1955) of Cumberland Valley High School. Ray enjoyed organizing numerous reunions and get-togethers with his classmates.
In addition to his wife, Raymond is survived by three children, Steven C., husband of Laurie nee Hubbard Ward, Jason L., husband of Karen nee Strawhecker Ward, Christine M., wife of Stephen Binkley; a daughter-in-law, Janet nee Lavelle Ward, six grandchildren, Angie and Mike Lane, Christopher and Rebecca Ward, Kyle and Vanessa Binkley; four great-grandchildren, Janie, Lanie, Olivia and Grayson; two brothers, Rodney, husband of Carol Ward, Paul, husband of Claudia Ward; three brothers-in-law, Mike, Tom and Barry Lynch; a sister-in-law, Judy Welu; an aunt, Grace Ward and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Eric A. Ward, in 2013.
A memorial service will be held on October 19, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 53 Walnut Street, Denver.
