Obituary for Mary Virginia Lapp (Haines)

Mary Virginia Lapp, 79, of Lancaster, formerly of Ephrata, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019, at home.

She was born in Lancaster to the late Ralph S. and Leona (Buchen) Haines and was the wife of the late Jacob S. Lapp, Jr. who passed away in 2014.

She was a member of East Hempfield Church of the Brethren where she was in the choral group, Voices of Liberty.

Mary worked in accounting for the Lancaster County Controllers Office and previously for Moyers Sewing Factory. She also worked for various Turkey Hill Markets and eventually in their office. She enjoyed crocheting, needle point and stamping. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling, baking Christmas cookies and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by three children, Cindy Lou Lapp, significant other of Christian Taylor, Daryl Lamar, husband of Elaine Lapp, Marsha L. Lapp, all of Lancaster; 6 grandchildren, Jessica R. Smith of Tallahassee, FL, Jacqueline P. A. Hubbard, Erin B. Mulligan, Carlissa and Corey Lapp, all of Lancaster, Nicolle Wissler, of North Carolina; 9 great-grandchildren and her beloved dog, Amanda.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Samuel Haines and a grandson, Justin Wissler.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mary's caregivers, Ninoshka Loran, Millie Colon, Kelly Lock, Evangelina Diaz, Erin Mulligan and Jacqueline Hubbard and to the staff at Hospice and Community Care, Jody, Sue Ellen and Lisa for the compassion she received.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019, from 10 to 11 AM at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Avenue, Ephrata, followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM with Pastor Douglas Hinton officiating. Interment will take place in the Groffdale (Brick) Mennonite Cemetery.
