Obituary for Marvin E. Porter Jr.

Marvin E. Porter, Jr., 80, of Denver, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019, at home.

He was born in Marion, VA to the late Marvin E, Sr., and Maggie E. (Justice) Porter and was the husband of the late Miriam Louise (Gehman) Porter who passed away in 2002.

He was a member of Reamstown Church of God. He dedicated his life to spreading the gospel as a missionary and pastoring several churches. He attended Lee College in Cleveland, TN.

He enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies, Cocalico High School Football and the University of Virginia Cavaliers.

Marvin is survived by five children, Timothy I. Porter of Denver, Thomas, husband of Sabrina Porter of Stevens, Cathrine E., wife of Bret A. Whitaker of Adamstown, Cynthia D. Derr of Ephrata, Jennifer J., wife of Andrew Guthrie of Stevens; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and four siblings, David Porter, Sr., Ron Porter, Sam Porter and Deborah Davis.

In addition to his wife and children, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Baldree.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, from 6 to 8 PM at the Reamstown Church of God, 400 Pfautz Hill Road, Stevens. An additional viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, from 9 to 10AM, at the church, followed by funeral services at 10:00 AM with Pastor Arthur T. Karick officiating. Interment will take place in Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.
