Obituary for Marvin Martin Halligan

Marvin M. Halligan, 71, of Denver, PA went home to be with the Lord on October 23, 2019 after a battle with cancer at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy.

He was the son of the late Paul and Ethel (Martin) Halligan of Farmersville, PA.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Halligan, and grandson, Mattison Halligan.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna (Gehman) Halligan; a son, Matthew, husband of Tara (Graham) Halligan; 2 daughters, Noel, wife of Douglas Fagan, and Amy, wife of Curtis Good; two grandsons, Matthew Good and Sean Fagan; one granddaughter, Makenzi Halligan; a brother, Ray Halligan; and 7 sisters, Elma Diem, Marie Hertzog, Lorraine Kofroth, Marilyn Mull, Rhoda Martin, Elaine Hibshman, and Rheta Sensenig.

From a young age, Marvin had a passion for 18 wheelers. He worked as a long distance truck driver, truck mechanic, and most recently was employed by E and G Concrete of Stevens where he operated a concrete boom pump truck for 20 years. Our deepest thanks to everyone at E and G Concrete for honoring and supporting Marvin through his illness.

Marvin was a man of many talents and enjoyed many hobbies through the years including gardening, canning, baking, hunting, fishing, hiking, and even restoring a 1949 Ford pick-up, completing all the work himself.

He was a member of LCBC in Ephrata where he has served on the communion team and as a greeter.

Until we see Marvin again in the presence of Jesus Christ he will be remembered most for his heart to serve. He put others before himself, always willing to drop what he was doing to lend a hand. He was a faithful, loving, and devoted husband, father and grandfather, and will be deeply missed.

Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Degreen, III, and everyone at the Lancaster Cancer Center and Hospice and Community Care.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019, from 1:30 to 2:45 pm at the LCBC-Ephrata Campus, 6 Hahnstown Road, Ephrata, PA 17522. Funeral services will follow at 2:45 pm, with Pastor Bill Melone officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Kindly omit flowers. Memorial contributions in Marvin's memory may be made to LCBC-Ephrata Campus at the above address, or to the Healing Journey Foundation at the Lancaster Cancer Center, P.O. Box 10396, Lancaster, PA 17605-0396.
