Obituary for Larry J. Downs
Larry J. Downs, 70, of Akron, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at home.
He was born in Lancaster to the late Tom and Claire (Bosley) Downs and was the husband of Angel L. (Smith) Downs with whom he shared 35 years of marriage.
Larry was a Chaplain for Water Street Rescue Mission and the manager of Akron Nutrition Center. He enjoyed fishing and playing piano and guitar. He loved to get together with others and teach Bible Studies. He especially loved his puppy, Bella.
In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by three siblings, Marilyn Eggers, Nancy Leed, and Tommy Downs, and abundant nieces and nephews whom he loved.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, 1:30PM, at Akron Church of the Brethren, 613 Main Street, Akron. All are invited to stay for light refreshments following the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
