Obituary for Jenny Walker

Jenny Riek Walker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of Akron, PA passed into her eternal rest on Monday, February 3, 2020. She was 78 years old and wife to Arnold Walker. They would have celebrated 52 years of marriage on April 6. Jenny was one of 11 children to Anna (Bonacher) Riek and George Riek. She was born April 13, 1941 near Stuttgart, Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1965. She became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1980. She was a seamstress who retired from Walter Moyer/Gerber sewing factory after nearly 22 years in 2001.

Jenny spent her retirement years enjoying her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to meet new people and often engaged strangers in conversation. She had a generous heart and was always thinking of others. Jenny was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness church and was active in her congregation.

She is survived by her husband Arnold; son Greig P. Riek of Ephrata, husband of Julie Riek; daughters, Ann Walker Simmons of Lancaster, wife of Brian Simmons, Heidi Walker Snyder of Stevens; grandchildren, Nathan and Kasey Simmons, Anthony Riek and Dana Riek DiCicco. She also had five great-grandchildren, Seth Riek and Julien, Dru, Gianna and Andre DiCicco. She was preceded in death by her son, Roger T. Riek.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association, would be appreciated.

Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 530 New Holland Road, New Holland, PA 17557, on Saturday, February 29, 2020. Friends will be received during a visitation time between 9:30-11:00 am followed by a celebration of life memorial service from 11:00 am-12:00 pm.
