Janet (Landis) Auker, 77, of Stevens, passed away at home on June 20, 2020 after a brief illness. Born in Ephrata, Janet was the daughter of the late Harry and Effie (Peachey) Landis. Janet married Roger F. Auker in 1962 and they celebrated 57 years together last August.

Janet graduated from Ephrata High School in 1960. Along with Roger, she worked in the power sports and turf equipment industry for more than 40 years. Most recently, Janet worked in the paint and apparel department at Paul B Hardware in Ephrata. She loved to host family gatherings and was famous among friends, family, and customers alike for her exceptional ham loaf. Janet enjoyed photographing her loved ones and her travels, collecting keepsakes, scrapbooking, word puzzles, playing cards, and organizing annual shopping trips with friends. Janet and Roger both served in leadership roles of the PA State Snowmobiling Association and the Dutch Trail Cutters snowmobile club for many years. They enjoyed snowmobiling together and regularly traveled to Canada and Maine to ride with friends. A member of Blue Ball Church of the Brethren, Janet taught children’s Sunday School and organized many mother and daughter banquets over the years.

In addition to her husband, Janet is survived by her children Sharon A. (Anthony) Paparo of Texas, R. Jeffrey (Amy) of Lititz; her grandchildren, Alicia, John and Elizabeth Paparo, Erica Auker, Nathan (Veronica) Auker, Annie (Peter) Michael; and great-granddaughters, Dalaney Auker and Eleanor Michael. She is also survived by her brother, Ronald H. (Barbara) Landis of New Holland.

Services will be private and interment will take place at Middle Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Janet's name may be sent to Hospice and Community Care, P. O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA, 17604.

l Auker family. Please accept my condolences on the death of Janet. I have known her for a long time, We started 1st grade together at Bergstrasse. I lived 2 houses down from her family when we lived in Murrell, And after several years we graduated in 1960. After that I went to nurses training and when I graduated I went to Puerto Rico for mission work in a hospital. Then I married and went to live in VA. My Mother was my informant about Ephrata happenings but I lost her suddenly on 2/14/20 just short of her 99th birthday. So hopefully I will not lose too much contact with my Ephrata memories.

To the Auker family- Please accept my sincere sympathy for the loss of Janet. I started in 1st grade with her. I even lived neighbors to her when

I went

Auker family- I have known Janet for a long time. We started 1st grade together at Bergstrasse. I even lived 2 houses down from her family in Murrell. Of course we graduated from Ephrata together. After HS I went into nursing training ,after that I went to Puerto Rico doing mission work at a hospital. And then I married and moved to VA. When I did get home to visit it usually was just for a short few days and so I have lost contact with most of my classmates. I was looking at the obit of a lady I knew and I thought this lady looks familiar and so I started to read Janet's obit. So please know that I am keeping your family in my prayers and hope that you find faith and strength to help you all at this trying time.

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of Janet. We have so many fine memories of the cousins getting together years ago at the Auker's for the Cousin's Reunion. All have been so close over the years!! May the comfort of the Lord be with Roger, Ron and their families. And may they always remember her and all she helped to do to keep the family and cousins close together.
